Aeromobil 3.0. – the dream of a flying car could soon become a reality

Many times, more or less exotic manufacturers have tried to make a car that also flies with the help of movable wings, but all the solutions so far have turned out to be science fiction without mass production. Well, that could change rather quickly with the Aeromobil 3.0 flying car.

Slovak company with 25 years of experience in the development of a personal vehicle that can fly at the same time, recently presented the fourth generation theirs aircraft. Namely, it is a model that is already very close to serial production.

The Slovaks also toyed with the idea of vertical takeoff, but abandoned it because it would have consumed too much fuel for takeoff. But they believe in its success in countries with poor transport infrastructure, such as: the majority of Russia, China and Africa.

Company otherwise currently is hiring everything 12 people, but they are just like here Pipistrel, true pioneers in this field and literally plowing the fallow land. Juraj Vaculik, leading man company, believes that with the arrival of this model on the market, personal transport will change forever, and at the same time, he is of the opinion that transport must become more emotional and personal and not just an opportunity to bridge the distance from point A to point B as quickly as possible. And what better for such a movement than a passenger car, which you can also drive on the highway and reach speeds over 160 km/h, but when the road runs out or becomes too difficult, you simply spread your wings and soar under the sky.

The interior is more like the cabin of an ultralight aircraft than that of a car, and there is room for two adults.

Designed by did Stefan Klein, who have been working on the flying car project since 1989, and in 2010 they teamed up with the above-mentioned innovator. Since then, they have produced the third generation of this model (aeromobil 2.5), for which they have already green light for flights within the country, s fourth generation flying cars, but now they do even more rigorous testing and is said to be very close to serial production. Somewhere in the next two years so we could see this flying wonder in the sky for the first time, although there is a small probability that one will also get to this side of the Alps.

It needs only 200 m of runway for takeoff and 50 m for landing

With it, they are primarily targeting the markets of developing countries, where the road infrastructure is poor and disconnected, and an aeromobile would thus represent an excellent compromise between a car and an airplane. The advantage of the vehicle is also that needs very little run up for take off, only 200 meters, while for landing even only 50 meters, is sufficient but also alone flat surface. Fuel can be obtained at almost all gas stations when the wings are folded.

160 km/h on the road, 200 in the air

The body is made from advanced kcomposite materials, with the task of keeping the weight as low as possible, while at the same time providing the vehicle with a sufficient degree of durability during the flight. Of course not missing nor Autopilot, as well as not advanced a system that if necessary launch the parachute. In the cabin, the sensations are very similar to those in an ultralight aircraft or even a Cessna, and there is enough space for two adults. The final speed it can reach on the road is over 160 km/h, and around 200 in the air kilometers per hour. Despite its enormous dimensions and weight, it should consume on average only 8 liters of fuel per 100 km, and in the air almost twice as much per hour of flight (15 l/h). Prices remain unknown for now, but rumors are getting louder that prices are expected to fluctuate around 200,000 euros.
