In 1955, the son of a Renault dealer founded the Alpine sports car brand in his father's workshop. The enthusiastic rally driver was inspired by the Alpine Cup, which he had just won. The flagship is still the A110-badged spot car, but today we're getting a glimpse of the future.
Alpine is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its A110 with a prototype full of "Made in Alpine" innovations that points the brand into the future.
With its first electric car, Alpine has chosen components from the Renault catalog and improved them for use in an e-sports car. The group's standard engine is complemented by a new transmission developed specifically for the concept vehicle. The result is a dual clutch electronic control solution (DCT) like the production version of the A110, but with clutches designed for high torque. The battery modules of the new Alpine are the same as those of the Mégane E-Tech Electric. The new Alpine A110 E-ternité showed what the drive can do during the Formula 1 pit stop at the French Grand Prix. According to media reports, the electric motor has a power of 178 kW or 242 hp. A sprint from zero to one hundred is said to be possible in 4.5 seconds. The maximum speed is currently 250 km/h.
