The inauguration of the new American president, Joe Biden, was exciting in many ways: from new traditions to musical performances to fashion combinations and memes. Poet Amanda Gorman has jumped from about 50,000 followers to a whopping 2.5 million in a matter of hours on social media. Such a jump did not surprise us considering the performance at the opening, which was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful moments of the entire ceremony.

She stepped on the stage of one of the most watched ceremonies in the world as the youngest performer, and was chosen for this occasion by the new First Lady of the United States dr. Jill Biden, who had already attended one of her performances.

She recited poetry specially written for Joe Biden's inaugural address The Hill We Climb. She wrote the verses weeks before the inauguration, and although she struggled with creative block, she was inspired and encouraged by the tragic attack on the US Capitol on January 6, in which five people lost their lives. She looked back at the song the reunification of the American people, who must recover and who, after all, have not been defeated. The poem also intertwines themes identities, heritage and hopes for the future. You can see the entire poem here. With the exception of the verses themselves, it did Amanda Gorman touched the audience with the way she recited, the movements and the emotions she managed to convey.
