For all adventurers at heart, from December 2020 it will be possible to experience the magical northern lights right from the comfort of a hot air balloon. A hot air balloon will take everyone who would like to see this miracle of nature live into the sky in Swedish Lapland.
A new concept of experiencing the Northern Lights will be offered at the travel agency Off the Map Travel. The founder Aurora Safari Camp, Jonas Gejke and Fredrik Broman, are in cooperation with a balloon expert Andrew Pearth named this magical journey with a balloon Aurora in the Sky (Aurora in the air). Pearth has flown balloons over the African savannas for more than 25 years, and now he will become the leader of the Lapland balloon team.
Founder of the Off the Map Travel agency Jonathan Cooper he said: "We have never heard of anything like it. It looks set to be the next greatest Northern Lights experience.”
Reservations for this unique balloon ride will be available from May 2020. Evening flights will be implemented in April next year. Under the guidance of an experienced connoisseur, the balloon will rise about 40 meters high, between the northern lights and the arctic ice.
For visitors who want to see the wild Arctic landscape, the team of Lapland balloonists will also conduct daily expedition flights from their home base in Gunnarsbyn in Sweden, in the valley of the river Rane. New hot air ballooning experiences in Lapland are available for groups of up to six people. However, as flights depend on weather conditions, it is recommended that they be included as part of a multi-day stay program.
At the Off the Map Travel agency, you will be charged for such a three- to four-day package (without plane tickets). from 2,500 euros per person. Price includes all meals, transfers, accommodation at Aurora Safari Camp, snowmobile adventure with lunch on the Arctic Circle, hot air balloon flight and "meet the locals" snowmobile ride.
Cooper adds: "Although we cannot guarantee that you will see the Northern Lights, a hot air balloon ride among the stars is by far the most beautiful way to try."
