In the 2022 collection, Kånken was designed by the Swedish color master, designer and photographer Tekla Evelina Severin - her inspiration was the "open horizon".
She trained as an interior designer, photographer and designer in a number of other disciplines, but she says she is a colorist in the first phase. Color is the foundation of her art and she is always fascinated by its power.
While spending time in nature, he is always on the hunt for new colors, he allows his thoughts to wander and seek new inspiration. Passion for colors and enthusiasm for nature combined with rich design experience were the right recipe for the design of the line Kånken Art. Using the technique of mixing complementary colors, she captured the theme of an open horizon, where colors, symmetry and clear lines play the main role.
She approached the project in the same way she always approaches something new – with an analysis based on deconstruction. The deconstruction of nature and, of course, the Kånken backpack. The very shape, composition and details that are iconic. "At least one Kånken accompanied me in every period of my life," recalls Tekla.
In creating the new collection, her goal was to Kånken Art 2022 invite people into nature and its colors and remind them that the best ideas will be found right there - outside! "The coast, the poppy fields, every horizon is just that - an endless window of possibilities. If my work inspires people, or just persuades them to go outside, my goal has been achieved," concludes Tekla.
