Banksy has opened his online store Gross Domestic Product - GDP, where you can buy his iconic pieces, such as the protective jacket worn by Stormzy at the Glastonbury festival or the t-shirts decorated with his artwork. But Banksy wouldn't be Banksy if there wasn't a noose hiding somewhere.
GDP online store, which was recently opened by a famous artist Banksy, offers quite a few interesting items. In addition to those already mentioned above, we can buy more a brick purse, paint can tombstone with inscription You Have Now Reached Your Final Destination (You have reached the last station) and the carpet of a tiger that succumbed to diabetes.
The store does not operate on a first-come, first-served basis, although the items for sale are limited edition. So where is the loop? Any of us can apply until October 28, and potential buyers can choose only one piece. Also, everyone has to answer the question Why does art matter? (Why is art important?). An independent judge will review all responses received and make a selection the most appropriate and original.
In the statement of the online store, we can read that potential customers, who will be selected at random, will have 7 working days to reject the purchase. They also state that they are prices final - in most cases these are well below market value - and intended mainly for those who have lower incomes. Those who have concretely more under their thumb were asked not to apply.
This is not Banksy's first shop. A few weeks ago, it opened in the southern part of London showroom or a shop, which is only intended for display.
