The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has revealed the best universities in the world in 2016. The list, which ranks universities according to eight objective criteria, including faculty quality, student employability and its impact, also includes the universities of Ljubljana and Maribor. American universities reign supreme. These are the best universities in the world 2016.

According to the research of the researchers of the Center for the Evaluation of the Quality of Universities in the World (CWUR) is best university in the world 2016 Harvard University. The ranking also includes the universities of Ljubljana and Maribor, which are not as high as expected. CWUR uses when sorting eight criteria, namely quality of education (it is measured according to the number of students who have received international awards and recognitions; taking into account the size of the university), employability of students (measured according to the number of students in managerial positions; the size of the university is also taken into account), faculty quality (it is measured according to the number of academics who have received important international awards and recognitions). Each criterion mentioned is worth 25 percent of the grade. All the rest are worth 5 percent and are: the influence of the university (measured by the number of scientific articles published in influential journals), publications (they are measured according to the number of scientific articles published in influential publications), quotations (these are measured according to the number of frequently cited citations), patents (measured against the number of international patent registration requirements) and overall impact (this is measured according to the h-index of the university; it is the ratio between the number of scientific publications in journals with an impact factor and the number of citations).
