A city in the desert. A culture of possibility. A network of dreamers and artists. It's all Burning Man (2019), the world's most epic festival based on the principles of inclusion and social endeavour. This year's photos prove that this festival is called a metropolis built by its "citizens" for a reason.
Once a year (this year the festival took place from August 25 to September 2nd) tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada's Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City (Burning Man), a temporary metropolis that is intended of art, self-expression and independence. Everyone is welcome in this creative community. The purpose of the festival is to bring positive spiritual changes in the world, which can be achieved through healthy communication.
Even if the festival organizers send a message about equality and accessibility event, a multi-day festival ticket costs more than 1000 dollars, which doesn't quite match the idea of Burning Man. Some of Black Rock City's loyal fans also say the festival has become a great place to inflate one's ego pseudo-Bohemian billionaires from Silicon Valley. Clearly, even today there are many people who attend the event for the sake of it the true spirit of the festival, but year after year (the event has been held since 2011), the number of those who attend the event only because of "perfect photos for Instagram"
And, interestingly, most of the visual material is found on this social network, on which the influencers post countless similar photos. There is something in front of you the best photos from this year's festival Burning Man 2019!
