At the 2024 Chengdu Motor Show, BYD unveiled its latest passenger van called the Xia. It is a luxury vehicle that, with its length of 5,145 meters, offers plenty of space, advanced technology and a hybrid powertrain that combines performance and efficiency. The BYD Xia is designed to carry a large number of passengers, making it ideal for large families or professional haulers.

BYD The Xia stands out with its distinctive “Dragon Face” design, typical of BYD's vehicle series. The front of the vehicle is adorned with a large trapezoidal bumper with a dragon scale pattern, while elegant LED lights emphasize the modern look. The van boasts a flat roofline and sliding doors, allowing easy entry and exit of passengers.

Spacious and technologically advanced interior

Inside the BYD Xia hides space for seven passengers, arranged in a 2+2+3 configuration. The spacious cabin is equipped with the latest technological solutions, including a large floating screen on the center console, the advanced infotainment system DiLink 150 and the DiPilot driver assistance system. The combination of technology and thoughtful design ensures superior comfort and safety while driving.

Powertrain: Fifth generation DM hybrid system

The heart of the BYD Xia is the fifth-generation DM hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with a power of 152 hp and an electric motor that produces 264 hp. Together, this combination allows the vehicle to travel up to 200 kilometers on electric power alone, thanks to a large lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of most likely “25 kWh”. Although the exact specifications of the battery have not yet been officially confirmed, the vehicle is expected to offer a powerful and efficient drive with low fuel consumption.

The BYD Xia will enter the Chinese market later this year, with a starting price of around 300,000 yuan (approximately 42,300 USD or 39,000 EUR). In Europe, if it were available, the price would be around 70,000 euros. The combination of luxury, spaciousness and advanced technology puts the Xia among the most serious competitors in the passenger van segment, where it will go up against similarly designed vehicles such as the Lexus LM and Toyota Vellfire.

More detailed information on technical specifications and options will be available in the coming weeks as the official launch approaches.
