Welcome to a world where big sedans are still king of the road. Cadillac has unveiled the 2024 CT6, a luxury star product exclusively for the Chinese market. With a new look, advanced technology features and an improved platform, it promises to drive like no other sedan. Let's go back to the beginning and see how this American beauty is establishing itself in the second largest market in the world.
When Cadillac stopped production of the CT6 for the US market in early 2020, the large sedan remained on sale in China, where sedans with powertrains are still relevant. So relevant that it's time to move on - meet the model Cadillac CT6 – 2024 with a new, fresh image. Without giving specifications, Cadillac confirmed that the new Cadillac CT6 – 2024 is based on an “improved rear-wheel drive platform” with an ideal 50:50 weight distribution.
The exterior of the 2024 Cadillac CT6 – 2024 is inspired by the stunning Escala Concept that was unveiled at Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach in 2016. While it can't quite match the presence and allure of a concept car, it looks extremely attractive in a sea of crossovers and SUVs. The dimensions of the new CT6 remain almost unchanged compared to its predecessor: it is 5,223 millimeters (205.6 inches) long, 1,890 mm (74.4 inches) wide and 1,473 mm (58 inches) tall.
The new CT6 offers a segment-leading 3,109 mm (122.4 in) wheelbase, matching its predecessor. This tells us that the new 2024 Cadillac CT6 – 2024 is not a completely new product, but rather an evolution of the first generation that takes advantage of the updated Omega platform. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
As the top of the range in the Chinese market, the 2024 CT6 is packed with technology. In addition to the familiar 33-inch screen, it is also equipped with the Super Cruise system, Magnetic Ride Control (4.0) and a digital rearview mirror. However, it's only available with a four-cylinder engine, a far cry from the mighty Blackwing version of the US CT6-V, where the twin-turbocharged V8 produced 550 horsepower. This 2.0-liter engine has less than half that, 233 horsepower to be exact.
The new Cadillac CT6 – 2024 will go on sale in China later this year alongside the aforementioned GT4 and facelifted XT4.
Cadillac CT6 for 2024 proves that they are large limousines still an important part of the automotive industry. Although this American beauty is aimed exclusively at the Chinese market, its fresh look, refined platform and advanced technological features promise to leave a strong impression in the motoring world. Although times change, some classic models like the CT6 retain their allure and appeal.
