Coprnica, the dragon, Butalci, great-grandmother Uršula and many masked pirates, playful princesses, brave firemen, ladybugs, bees and other carnival lovers will scare the winter for ten days and enjoy the carnival company. They will start with the traditional Žaganj baba, they will also enjoy exhibitions, the official Butal TV program, children's masquerade, carnival party and the Great Carnival. The traditional event will end with the Burial of Pusta.
You can even imagine entering March without the traditional carnival in Cerknica? Good old characters as they are Ursula, old copernicus, dragon will be between February 28 and March 6 impressed young and old from all over Slovenia and abroad.
Carnival in Cerknica 2019 will start on February 28 with the traditional Sawing of Baba ‒ Fat Thursday, the last day of February this year, is the day when the people of Butal will organize a revolutionary takeover of power, namely ceremonial opening of carnival events. The opening ceremony will take place on the same day at 5 p.m carnival exhibition, which will be on display in the Krpan gallery during the carnival week.
Friday will start with official Butal TV programs, on which you can find everything except what you don't. The evening will end with carnival party. They will be on Saturday children enjoyed the children's masquerade. It will be during the night repeated the carnival party.
Sunday, D-Day, is all about celebration carnival with all popular characters, big figures and guest masks. Winter will be banished once and for all after the burial of Pust.
