Presidents (John F. Kennedy), Elvis Presley, and Clark Gable once rode in the luxury Lincoln Continental limousine. The American car, which was once the concept of luxury, collapsed when prestigious cars from Europe and Asia "invaded" America. Now the Lincoln Continental is back, albeit without its signature grille. It's been 13 years since it last rolled off the Ford factory, and the sedan, which debuted at the New York Auto Show, goes on sale in 2016.
The renowned Swedish brand is re-entering the Slovenian market, this time with much bolder plans and also with a new iron in the fire - a new flagship called the Volvo XC90. Slovenian buyers can already order this at prices starting at 64,600 euros, and there is also a plug-in hybrid XC90 that can cover distances of up to 40 km on electricity alone.
It was 1993, when Ford announced to the world public that it would offer customers the first global model - the Ford Mondea, which will be sold unchanged in more than 150 markets around the world. The concept caught on immediately and the market success of the Sierra successor only grew. The fourth generation must therefore "fill big shoes", which it plans to do with a performance exterior, plenty of advanced technology, driving characteristics and, last but not least, the price.
Volvo has always been synonymous with safety. Now the Swedish car brand, together with the advertising agency Gray London, has extended its concern for the safety of drivers to the safety of those with whom they share the road - cyclists - with a reflective safety reception with invisible LifePaint paint. The start-up company Albedo100, which produces a spray that increases visibility at night and thus the safety of cyclists and other road users, is also involved in the test project.
At Mercedes-Benz, in the desire for even greater market success, the CLA limousine coupe has now been given a dynamic station wagon rear. The surcharge of 610 euros means 495 liters of luggage space, or 25 more than in the sedan. With prices starting at 28,260, it is a concrete 4,800 euros cheaper than the otherwise more elegant, but much less sporty wagon version of the C-class.
Are you a fan of the iconic Ford Mustang of the first generation from 1964, but the old-timer does not suit you because it is not adapted to today's times? It has been made to look stunningly like the original, but adapted to modern standards.
The Yamaha Sport Heritage series has a new member, the XV950 Racer motorcycle, which faces a challenging task, as it must continue the tradition of revolutionary models that do not freeze. Although time will tell, the minimalist model with a muscular air-cooled V-Twin engine, agile chassis and clip-on handlebars already gives the Sport Heritage family a new dimension.
Seat is a brand of the Volkswagen group with a distinctly sporty note, but here and there they also offer some off-road specials, such as the Altea freetrack years ago. Well, the Leon x-perience brings just the right replacement for the latter, as it brings an almost off-road ground clearance, always standard four-wheel drive and XDS, and prices from 23,670 euros.
The American start-up company Lyons Motor Car will present at the 2015 New York Auto Show the monstrous LM2 Streamliner, which pulls up to an incredible 467 km/h and reaches 100 km/h in a mere 2.2 seconds. Although it is a concept that, above all, does not come from an established factory, names such as Koenigsegg and Pagani give hope that in the future the LM2 Streamliner will take the title of the fastest car in the world.
If we thought that Vršič could only be reached by car, mountain or road bike, we were seriously mistaken. On June 6, Red Bull Goni Pony invites persistent and brave cyclists to a combined classic - with a Pony bike to Vršič.
If you would like to have a piece of automotive history at home, then we have an example for you that might interest you. The very first Maserati 200 SI (Sport Internazionale) with a 200 S chassis from 1956, which has a truly varied and laurel-strewn career, was put up for auction. The athlete, who has already flown around the world "professionally and privately", is still in excellent condition, so far he has only needed minor restorations here and there.
Fashion designer Paul Smith, who is considered the most commercially successful British designer, joined forces with Land Rover and chose his Defender as his "muse". The one and only edition of this vehicle was created to celebrate the last month of production of this series of off-road vehicles and is as colorful as a Lego car that is not assembled according to the instructions.
