CES 2016: EHang 184: Autonomous People Transporter Drone

A human drone

CES 2016 already offered a lot of interesting things in the field of future mobility, but something like the EHang 184 drone has never been seen before. While everyone is busy with autonomous cars, the Chinese company EHang surprised with a "life-size" drone for transporting people. The Chinese promise that this autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) will be able to completely replace cars.

By now we were used to it drones they carry cameras with them, transport packages and the like, a drone EHang 184 but it will transport people. A case of the first human-sized electric drone and indeed the first personal AAV that transports people (load capacity up to 100 kg). You don't need a pilot test or special training to drive, because the drone does everything by itself. You just sit comfortably in the passenger cabin (for one person), on the tablet you choose the desired destination, set the climate that suits you, and enjoy the drone as a personal driver delivered to the selected location.

The EHang 184 Electric Drone can fly with a speed of up to 96 km/h, however, flight autonomy is from 23 to 25 minutes, which should be enough to "seduce" you to any end of the city you want. It is fully autonomous and does not allow for manual control, as it grew out of the idea of creating a means of transport that will not experience accidents. Statistically speaking, the most common cause of them is man. What if we have to make an emergency landing? They will take care of it safety mechanism. What if something fails? The company guarantees that each mechanism will have a reserve, so there is no fear of crashing.
