Chevrolet has officially unveiled the first electrified model of the iconic Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray sports car for 2024. Featuring a hybrid powertrain with a total output of 665 horsepower (495 kW), the E-Ray can reach 96 km/h (60 mph) in just 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest production Corvette ever. With a host of other new features, including the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension system and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, the E-Ray is set to change the game in the American fast car industry.
The E-Ray is the first electrified model of the Chevrolet Corvette and is expected to shake up the industry with its impressive performance. The hybrid powertrain has an electric motor on the front axle that produces 120 kW (160 HP) and 165 Nm (125 lb-ft) of torque, along with a 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery. The V8 engine is a 6.2-liter LT2 that produces 369 kW (495 hp) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque. In Stealth Mode, the hybrid Corvette can drive without the V8 up to 72 km/h (45 mph). Chevy pitches this setup as for things like a quiet exit from the neighborhood.
Design-wise, the E-Ray is 9.14 cm (3.6 inches) wider than the standard Stingray. It boasts a different front grille with more prominent horizontal elements. At the back there are new vents in the bumper. Buyers will be able to choose 14 exterior colors, including new shades Riptide Blue, Seawolf Grey and Cacti. Carbon Flash badges will be standard, and buyers will be able to add a set of carbon effects. The E-Ray will be available with an exclusive electric blue body stripe for the model. As an alternative, black exhaust tips and bright markings will be optional. There will be four alloy wheel designs and a carbon fiber option.
Chevy also predicts that all 2024 Corvettes will have updated driver assistance technology. They are now equipped with Lane Keeping Assist with Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking.
The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ra E-Ray will go on sale later this year. Chevy won't give an exact date, but it will be a model year 2024 probably meant to arrive in the second half of 2023. Prices will start at 104.295 $ for piles 1LZ and 111.295 $ for convertible 1LZ. Both figures are before the target fee because that price is not yet available. With its impressive performance and cutting edge technology, the E-Ray is set to be a game changer in the industry and a worthy addition to the iconic line Chevrolet Corvette.
