The smallest (and youngest) member of the BMW X series is even more urban than its bigger brothers, partly due to its more compact dimensions, partly due to the possibility of choosing a drive mode. Those who would like to save even more fuel and, for example, do not live in mountainous areas where snow clings to the road for a long time, can buy the sDrive version, in which the engine's power is transmitted only to the rear wheels, while others still have the classic – xDrive four-wheel drive. Our test model was sDrive, but it was still able to cope with the snow on the road, only the yellow light, which announces the intervention of the electronics to maintain stability, flashed more often. We can praise the attractive and muscular exterior, which preserves Beemve's genes, i.e. the legendary kidneys, double round headlights, etc. The interior is German-designed and ergonomic with elements that are common to everyone in the family - we were most pleased that they installed an analog current fuel consumption meter, a kind of trademark of the Bavarian factory, which we missed, for example, in the 1 series and the X3. Among the more interesting details, the innovative drink holder for the passenger stood out, which can be stored in the center compartment. We noticed that there is less (more premium) soft plastic built into the X1's armature than we're used to from this brand. The test model also had some additional equipment built in, which made the car more expensive by more than five thousand euros: xenon headlights, automatic air conditioning, rear parking sensor, which came in handy, as visibility when reversing is not the most ideal, and something else would be found. In any case, the X1 is a great car for driving around town and on longer routes - it feels quite at home on the highway - but a little less at home off-road, especially in the sDrive version.
