If a personal trainer used to be a term that belonged more to Hollywood stars, today a personal trainer is almost a part of every individual's life. Do you agree?
Many things that used to be Hollywood are becoming part of everyday life for most people. The fact is that people are aware of the need for a healthy lifestyle; both exercise and diet, unhealthy habits, etc. It goes without saying that sitting at work, school, in front of the TV or computer is not healthy. There is no need to be convinced that most of the food we eat is not healthy and is not suitable for the way of life we live. We have enough information and knowledge about a healthy lifestyle. But there is a lack of activation energy to start such a life. And this is where personal trainers come in. Maybe for some, a personal trainer is really a status symbol - a Hollywood symbol, but in this pace of life, a personal trainer means much more.
What is it that a person experiences when working out with a personal trainer that they do not experience otherwise in the gym?
People who choose personal trainers are aware of the benefits of exercising under professional supervision. They are aware that incorrect exercise, especially after a long period of inactivity, can cause more harm than good, but certainly not the desired effect. With professional supervision and demonstration of exercises and encouragement to exercise, the trainees overcome fear, resistance and gain self-confidence for something they did not do every day and which is foreign to them.
Is a personal trainer only for those who want to lose weight?
Losing excess fat deposits is just one of our programs. Exercise under professional supervision is intended for anyone who wants to reach their goal in a safe and quality way. However, since our clientele is very diverse, from top athletes to senior citizens, the goals, wishes and needs of our customers also differ greatly. That is why we have prepared a wide range of programs, which include: shaping the body, losing weight, improving mobility, special preparation for athletes, rehabilitation and prevention, improving fitness...
Are you a young team, where are you gaining experience?
We gained a great breadth of knowledge while studying at the Faculty of Sports, where we also specialized in conditioning training and fitness. At the faculty, we gained a lot of practical experience and theoretical knowledge, which we upgrade by completing various license courses, by participating in seminars, and to the greatest extent by reading foreign professional literature.
Who was your first "guinea pig"?
For the sake of discretion, I will not reveal the name of the first party, I can say that he was a well-known gentleman from politics. But I wouldn't say I had guinea pigs. But if I was already my own guinea pig. If you fail to work with yourself, it is difficult to convince anyone else.
Do you work according to proven methods, franchises or create your own programs? And if so how are they different from the others?
We follow the guidelines from Great Britain and the USA, and through this we create the brand trener.si, which combines personal coaching in the broadest sense, sports nutrition and, in perspective, education for a healthy life. Trener.si is a group of experts who, in addition to "sports" trainers, also include nutritionists, chemists, psychologists, doctors, physiotherapists, etc. Perhaps we are different from the others precisely because we are not a "one man band".
Why should you choose yourself from the multitude of personal trainers who have put themselves forward on the market, and who do you see as your biggest competition?
Our advantage is education and the fact that we deal with coaching professionally. It is a comprehensive consultation with the implementation of proposed solutions. We have no direct competition, as our approach and philosophy are different from the others. However, I would like to see the situation in the field of personal coaching and work in fitness improved in the future, because unfortunately no one seriously checks the qualifications of trainers and there are many people who have called themselves personal trainers. Unfortunately, the customer cannot know and evaluate who is suitably qualified and who is not. In such a case, the customer gets a little bang for his buck...
Do you think that a body trainer must have a perfect figure to give the impression of credibility?
Absolutely not! The coach is not a "massive" macho, fortunately this stereotype is fading, the coach is a professional person who serves you with his knowledge! Otherwise, what is the perfect figure? However, I advocate that a coach must be in good psychophysical condition, enjoy all kinds of sports activities and have a healthy lifestyle, and thus set an example.
What do you do for your fitness, for your figure?
My day rarely goes by without sports. I exercise 4-5 times a week in the gym, and 2-3 times a week I devote myself to sports in nature, such as windsurfing, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding... Sometimes I have a hard time deciding what to devote myself to. Our small and rugged country offers fantastic conditions for various sports activities.
Is training about pleasure, relaxation, activity, or is it about renunciation - does someone who hires a personal trainer become a slave to diets, daily caloric calculations, obsession with the exercise schedule...?
Exercise and diet vary greatly from individual to individual. The fact is that the training of an active athlete cannot be compared to the training of a lady who decided to take care of her body at the age of fifty. The first training sessions are psychologically and physically exhausting. It is something new, different. Something the body does not know and is superfluous to. Soon it becomes training or doing sports and a healthy lifestyle is a pleasure.
Do you count your calorie intake yourself, or do you sometimes casually go out for lunch with friends?
No, I don't calculate my calories or weigh my food, but I make sure that I have five meals a day, I adapt my food to my daily activities, I make sure that I have an adequate intake of all macronutrients, and I never start the day without breakfast. I also eat pizza or half a tub of ice cream without any problems or bad conscience. In the past, I followed very strict diets a few times, at that time I was very careful about what, when and how much nutrients I put into my body. The results were great, but in the long run it is almost impossible.
Do you recommend a special restaurant that offers really balanced meals?
So far, there is no such restaurant. Most excellent restaurants (unfortunately also expensive ones) are aware of the healthy way of preparing food and also the amount that is suitable for a meal.
If sports and coaching are your job, what is your relaxation?
Interesting question! It would be very difficult to set a strict limit. I consider it a personal success that I have taken my hobby so far that it is now my job and I enjoy it.
