A cold shower in the morning is a popular habit, especially on days when it is most difficult for us to get up. Cold water immediately wakes up our body and pulls us out of our reverie into reality. But is this a healthy way to wake up? We found out what the experts think.
In the Netherlands, showering was done in the morning research, in which more than 3,000 people participated. The goal was compare health of those who showered in the morning with cold water and those who enjoyed hot showers. And the results after a three-month period were surprising: it turned out that among those who spent their mornings with a cold shower, what 29% less registered sick leave.
A similar study was also carried out at Czech, namely among athletes. It turned out that those who showered with cold water three times a week were on average better health.
The reasons for this are not entirely clear, but many experts believe that a cold shower could help better immune system. It should also improve circulation and mental health.
Showering with cold water also has certain risks: because a sudden jet of cold water is a shock to the body, experts do not recommend this kind of morning routine to those who have an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
