"Condom positive, HIV negative": awareness campaign on AIDS Day

This year, December 1st, World AIDS Day, will be held in the center of Ljubljana as part of the "Condom positive, HIV negative" awareness campaign, where members of the VIRUS Project, otherwise medical students, will teach you about this disease and provide you with a condom. They are also preparing a raffle with attractive prizes.

"On World AIDS Day, many people tie a red ribbon, but unfortunately, many times it remains only in this act," the members opined. VIRUS project, which operates under the auspices of Association of medical students of Slovenia. The VIRUS project works throughout the year in the area of raising awareness about the dangers of infection with the HIV virus, on World AIDS Day, members organize an awareness campaign on Stritarjev trg in Ljubljana. "With the slogan "Condom positive, HIV negative" we want to remind you of the easiest way to prevent HIV infection," said the members of the VIRUS Project, who want to use the campaign to educate people about HIV infection and safe and healthy sex.

What will happen during the campaign "Condom positive, HIV negative"?

How is the HIV virus transmitted? How do we protect ourselves from HIV infection? When is the best time to test? Is AIDS a curable disease? Can we get infected by a mosquito bite? You will be able to answer all these questions December 1st get answers to stand on Stritarjev trg. You will be able to talk about safe sex with one of the members, take a condom and attach a red ribbon or write a postcard and send it to anyone you want. In addition, you will be able to spin the wheel of fortune and win one of the many prizes. They will also attend the event famous Slovenians and the mayor Municipalities of Ljubljana.

Areas of operation of the VIRUS Project

The VIRUS project, which was founded in 1997, conducts more than 100 workshops on safe and healthy sexuality annually in Ljubljana elementary schools. In addition to these workshops, for the second year in a row parents of children in the sixth grade of elementary schools are offered short lectures on HPV infection and prevention to protect against the development of diseases related to the infection.
In addition to workshops and lectures, they also organize nationwide campaigns on December 1, World AIDS Day (this year is the eighteenth campaign in a row), as well as many Slovenian and international trainings. The awareness campaign is also organized on World Cervical Cancer Day, and in collaboration with the Infection Clinic, they also organize hepatitis C awareness and participate in the European Testing Week.
