Calorie counting, body mass index (BMI), ideal weight, these are all numbers we think about when trying to lose weight. Body mass index (BMI) is a rough indicator of overweight. However, BMI does not take into account the proportion of muscle in the body, so the Creff formula is a better option as it can tell you what your ideal weight really is.
What is the Creff formula
Creff formula takes into account the specific building person and their body weight and height. Unlike body mass index, the Creff formula is more accurate and customized. With it, you can better harmonize your healthy weight with your body and thus aim for your ideal weight with diet and activity. If you understand this, it will be easier for you to lose weight because you will have a more realistic goal in mind. It is calculated using three different data about your body.
S Creff's formula is identified three body types:
– people of average build and height
– people of stronger build
– people of small stature
How to find out your body type
To find out what body type you have (M), you need to study your body. Place it middle finger and thumb right hand around the wrist left hands:
– If the thumb slightly overlaps the middle finger (M = 0.9), you have a small figure
– If your thumb and middle finger touch (M = 1.0), you have an average build
– If your thumb and finger do not touch (M = 1.1), you have a stronger body
Formula for calculating ideal body weight
[height in cm – 100) + (age / 10)] x 0.9 x M
Formula for people of average height and build
[(height in cm – 100) + ((age / 10)] x 0.9 x 1.0
For example, if you are 165 cm tall and 30 years old. The calculation looks like this [(165-100) + (30/10)] x 0.9 x 1.0 = 61.2
In this case, 61.2 kilograms is your ideal weight.
A formula for people of stronger build
[(height cm – 100) + (age / 10)] x 0.9 x 1.1
For example, if you are 165 cm tall and 30 years old. The calculation looks like this: [(165-100) + (30/10)] x 0.9 x 1.1 = 67.32
In this case, your ideal weight is 67.32 kilograms.
Formula for small people
[(height in cm – 100) + (age / 10)] x 0.9 x 0.9
For example, if you are 165 cm tall and 30 years old. The calculation looks like this: [(165-100) + (30/10)] x 0.9 x 0.9 = 55.08
In this case, your ideal weight is 55.08 kg.
As you can see, two people of the same height and age can have a difference of more than 10 kg and both can have an ideal weight. So, whether you belong to the group of people who have an average, stronger or petite body, you can easily calculate your optimal weight. But remember that your body weight is considered to vary by two to three kilograms. This can happen due to stress or the menstrual cycle. If you feel good in your own skin and have a few kilograms more or less than the given number, don't worry, just enjoy your body.
