DJI is living proof of how fast technology is developing, and their products are real little technological miracles. This time, impressive technology was packed into the 249-gram "aircraft" or drone for a very interesting price, under 450 euros.
Last year's DJI Mavic Mini was considered the smallest and lightest full-featured drone on the market, but it had some drawbacks. Today DJI Mini 2, who lost his nickname mavic, addresses these shortcomings.
So it got OcuSync 2 connectivity for up to 2.5 times better wireless connection than the larger Mavic Air model. This connectivity has so far been considered the biggest Achilles heel of this model. It also has the same controller as the new one Mavic Air 2. However, this much cheaper and smaller model has slightly fewer sensors, which means that certain obstacle avoidance and tracking are worse than in the larger and more expensive model. Of course, it also has limitations when it comes to image capture. But for hobby pilots and vloggers, its ability will be more than enough. So it captures video in resolution 4K at 30 frames per second per second and a bitrate of 100 Mb/s, compared to its predecessor, which was only capable of 2.7K, 25/30p at 40 Mb/s. Also this time it allows shooting in RAW format. Unfortunately, it can still record at maximum speed at 1080p resolution at just 60 fps, which is insufficient for slow motion.
DJI boasts an improved top speed this time around Mini 2. This is almost 58 km/h. The operating time has also been improved, as the battery is expected to last as long as 30 minutes.
The only drawback we can find so far is around 50 euros higher base price. For the DJI Mini 2 with a controller and one battery, you will pay around 449 euros, and for the Fly More Combo with three batteries, a charging hub and a case, it is expected to be around 599 euros (prices are not yet official).
DJI Mini 2 is the ideal companion for all those who want to have a Swiss army knife in the form of a drone in their bag and are fans of bird's-eye videography.
