Before Paul Atreides ruled the wastes of Arrakis, the Harkonnen sisters had shaped the destiny of mankind for millennia. Slated for Fall 2024, "Dune: Prophecy" takes us back to the origins of the Bene Gesserit, focusing on two powerful women, Valya and Tula Harkonnen. The series will be exclusively available on the Max platform.
"Dune: Prophecy" will take us ten millennia back in time, to the time before the rise of Paul Atreides. This highly anticipated series will follow the path of the Harkonnen sisters as they attempt to form and solidify the influential orderly community that would later become known as the Bene Gesserit.
At the forefront of the series will be the dramatic power struggles, secrets and manipulations that are characteristic of the "Dune" universe. Emily Watson will portray Valya Harkonnen, and Olivia Williams will take over the role of Tula, following the resignation of Shirley Henderson. Originally conceived as Diane Ademu-John, the series is now hosted by Alison Schapker, who was also part of the production of popular series such as “Westworld” and “Altered Carbon”.
In addition to Watson and Williams, the series will also star Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Corrin, while Travis Fimmel will play a handsome soldier working against the Sisterhood. Anna Foerster, known for directing several episodes of “Outlander,” will direct several episodes, including the pilot.
“Dune: Prophecy” will be a six-part series that will explore the early days of the Bene Gesserit through the lens of original characters not taken directly from the books. The series will show how the beginnings of this powerful female sect affected the political and social structures of the known universe. The series is scheduled to premiere on the Max platform in the fall of 2024.
