Even before adult films reached the living rooms of adult audiences in the 1980s, erotic or pornographic films were screened in theaters and rated by The New York Times and Variety. We have prepared a collection of erotic adult film posters from the 1960s and 1970s.
In the 1970s, films for adults were shown in cinemas, namely on 16 or 35 millimeter filmstrip. Films were evaluated by newspapers Variety and The New York Times. Of course, erotic or pornographic films were often threatened with lawsuits, and for every big-budget film, they soon made a short film or a motel version with porn stars of the time or women who absolutely hated the big-budget film.
