European series that you must watch if you think you have nothing to watch

If you've already watched Bridgerton, Firefly Lane, Lupine, Fate: The Winx Saga, etc., then it's time for some great European series!

Each series on the list has a completely different sensibility, but we believe you'll like them and give at least one of them a chance.

Black money (Bani Negri, 2020– )

HBO Europe has launched a new original series from award-winning Romanian director Daniel Sandu. The six-part series, whose original title is Bani Negri, presents two cute "losers" traffic light repairmen who joke about the "perfect crime". The series revolves around the events that occur when they come up with the idea that they can manipulate traffic to rob an armored vehicle. In the end, however, it turns out that they are forced into an actual robbery, for which they are completely unprepared.

Foodie Love (2019– )

Created and directed by Spanish director Isabel Coixet, Foodie Love is her first TV series and a tribute to the things she loves the most: romance, food and travel. The story focuses on a couple who meet through an app for people interested in food, and follows them as they get to know each other's favorite dishes in Barcelona, Rome, the south of France and Japan. The couple meet for coffee and embark on a gastronomic adventure that exposes all of their vulnerabilities. A seemingly simple story will make you identify with the main characters, who will reveal themselves to you and talk about their interests and observations.

Golden Life (Aranyélet, 2015-2018)

The modern and interesting series Golden Life is actually a Hungarian crime drama series based on the Finnish series Easy Living. The story follows a corrupt businessman and his family as they try to cope with mounting family, legal and financial problems. Although it is a seemingly functional and even perfect family, up close it is anything but one to be envied. Their polished reality soon acquires a rough component, in which the viewers realize that even such "happy" families have only one aspiration - and that is to be "normal", even average.

Beartown (2020– )

The Beartown series is based on Fredrik Backman's 2016 novel of the same name (A Man Called Ove). This is the story of a cold, neglected and poisoned city, full of disaffected and revolted people who see no way out of their life situations and see hockey as the last beacon of hope. The day of the semi-final match is crucial to the further course of the series, as it is the catalyst for an act of violence that will leave the young girl traumatized and the city shaken.

Success (Success, 2019– )

The first series produced by HBO in our region, Uspeh, directed by Oscar-winner Danis Tanović, follows the intertwined stories of four foreigners who struggle in their own way with everyday life in the city and who are forever connected by one violent event. Through the life stories of ordinary people, a universal, multifaceted story is presented, in which through love, work, family and crime we explore the currently prevailing feelings of dissatisfaction, helplessness and passivity in the everyday life of ordinary people.
