This year, the Technical Museum of Slovenia pays special attention to the company Elan, which has been considered one of the most recognizable Slovenian brands for several decades. The labor cooperative, the factory, the brand Elan is the story of people who have been producing top-quality sports equipment for more than 70 years. Individual Elan products, especially skis, set global trends and we believe they will continue to do so in the future. Elan's skis have led many athletes to stardom. With the exhibition With Elan to the Stars, they want to present to visitors the extremely diverse production activity of Elan.
The beginnings of the company Elan date back to the year 1945, when it's Rudi Finžgar together with nine relatives, friends and acquaintances founded the economic cooperative Elan, dedicated to the production of sports equipment for various branches of indoor and outdoor sports. Although the mainstay of Elan's production were skis and gym equipment, they were badminton rackets their first major international sales success.
It's energetic furnished most of the athletics, hockey and boxing clubs, mountaineering, mountain rescue and firefighting societies, produced a type tools for protection at work and toys for children. Among their products we also find vessels, initially made of wood and later of synthetic materials, and a diverse range of gliders. The foundation of Elan's performance has been constant technical and technological innovations of developers, engineers and constructors. Between the years 1970 and 1980 they designed and manufactured more than 300 new machines and devices, which so far have not been used in production anywhere else in the world.

They will be on display individual sports accessories of the company's predecessors (Rodar, JOR, Kolb-Predalič), wood bender, some accessories for athletics and hockey, three oldest Elan machines, collection of the most important alpine, jumping and cross-country skis and snowboards, skibob, skier and mariner, model of a glider, water skis, one- and two-seater wooden kayak, wooden canoe, speedboat and sailboat models, some children's toys and Rog-Elan bicycles. There will be an exhibition also enriched with video material from the Archive of the Republic of Slovenia and testimonies of former employees.
