Hollywood and Formula 1 join forces in new film "F1 (2025)", directed by Joseph Kosinski, the director of the hit "Top Gun: Maverick". The film will hit theaters on June 27, 2025, and the production is supported by Apple Original Films in association with Warner Bros. Pictures for distribution (Apple).
Brad Pitt will play Sonny Hayes, a former racer who returns to the track to mentor a young racer played by Damson Idris. The APXGP team they lead will face off against the best in the sport at actual Formula 1 races. This means the film will be shot during real races, bringing an authentic and adrenaline-pumping experience to viewers.
The film boasts an all-star cast including Academy Award winner Kerry Condon, Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Tobias Menzies, as well as Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kay. Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Brad Pitt with his production company Plan B Entertainment and seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton with his production company Dawn Apollo Films also participate in the production.
The script was written by Ehren Kruger, known for his work on “Top Gun: Maverick,” and produced by a team that includes producers Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, with Penni Thow as executive producer.
