Ferrari was quite diligent this year, as it managed to present quite a few new and renewed models. Among them Omologata and Portofino M. Now presents the plug-in hybrid Ferrari SF90 Spider Hybrid.
As the name suggests, it is a coupe version SF90 Starved with an open roof, which was presented at the end of May of the year 2019. The Spider has an electric folding hardtop, designed so that the convertible can remain extremely true to the coupé style. Maranello engineers claim that the extensive use of aluminum makes the removable hardtop about 40 kilograms lighter than the traditional one. It goes up or down in 14 seconds and you can operate it without coming to a complete stop. SF90 Spider is equipped with a power sliding rear window for greater comfort and less wind while the roof is stowed.
What this coupe brings is a rather complex hybrid powertrain with a 4-liter V8 with two turbines and three electric motors. The PHEV system has a total power 986 hp and torque 800 Nm, which means that from 0 to 100 km/h it accelerates in two and a half seconds and reaches a top speed of 340 km/h. The only performance statistics revealed so far where the Spider falls short of the Stradale model's performance is 0-200 km/h. The SF90 does it in seven seconds, while the coupe does the job in just 6.7 seconds. Needless to say, it's a minor difference that doesn't really matter at the end of the day, but it's still good to know in cars where numbers count for everything.
Ferrari offers a 7-year warranty for the hybrid assembly.
