Skywalk Biokovo
Biokovo, Croatia
Skywalk, a viewing platform in the shape of a horseshoe, is located on the edge of a cliff, in the area of Ravna Vlaška in the southwestern part of the Biokovo nature park. 1,288 meters above the precipice you will have the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Makarska Riviera and the islands, and thanks to the glass floor, you will have the feeling that you are walking among the clouds. As part of the viewing platform, a geological column was also built, i.e. a 3D view of the cross-section of the rocks that form the Biokovo area from its creation to the present day, with a geological time table and a description of the age and types of rocks. The Heavenly Promenade can be accessed via a local road leading from the reception to Biokovo Nature Park to the highest peak, St. Jurija, which lies at an altitude of 1,762 meters above sea level. As an interesting fact, we should add that this is the highest asphalted road in Croatia.
Pyramidenkogel
Lake Vrb, Austria
Pyramidenkogel observation tower standing on 851 meters above sea level, at the top of Jedvovca near Klagenfurt, rises 100 meters into the sky, and you will have to climb 441 steps to get to it. If the thought of it gives you chills, don't worry, there is also a panoramic elevator. Trademark of the Austrian Carinthia and the tallest wooden tower in the world offers spectacular view of Vrbsko lake and mountains from as many as three viewing platforms, as well as from the Sky Box, a 360-degree glass platform with a restaurant. From a height of 52 meters, you will be able to descend to solid ground as soon as s slide. In the main building of the tower, there is also a restaurant with local and international cuisine and a souvenir shop on the ground floor.
Boilers
Buzet, Croatia
You don't have to go far for a fairy tale. This is confirmed by the place Kotli, which is located in Istria and is part of the town of Buzet. The place is known for waterfalls of the river Mirna, which is surrounded by water mills. Here the waterfalls have made cauldron-shaped depressions on the rocks, which, of course, gave the place its name. Kotli village used to be full of people engaged in various crafts and economically the strongest village in the Hum region, but today it is protected rural areae, which really reminds of Turkey's Pamukkale, translated as "cotton castle".
Thermal Lake Hévíz
Hévíz, Hungary
The Hungarian lake Hévíz is the largest biologically active natural thermal lake in the world, which invigorates both the body and the spirit! It is located in the town of the same name, only a three-hour drive from Ljubljana, and its name literally means "thermal water". The source of the 4.4-hectare sulfur-rich lake is 38 meters underground, in a deep cave. It is said to have been created already in antiquity, at the time when Blatno jezero and the basalt mountains around the lake were also created. And even then, people should have known healing properties of this spring, who are still credited with this kind of power today. Many diseases are said to be cured here if you dive into the water, smear yourself with mud or drink thermal water from one of the free fountains around the city. In addition to swimming, you will also find other activities here that will help maintain physical and mental health. They are available active sports programs, such as Nordic walking, cycling tours, city walks... You can also decide to take a trip to palaces in Blatenské Kostel (Keszethely), which is one of the largest and most visited in Hungary, go to the viewing hill Balatongyörök - Szépkilátó or to Tapolca cave, where you will ride a boat on a beautiful blue underground lake and admire a cave in which there are no stalactites.
Krupa river canyon
Velebit, Croatia
Near the town of Obrovac, one hour's drive from Zadar, there is a paradise for walkers, hikers and nature lovers. Here it is Krupa river with its only seven kilometers managed to create one of the most beautiful scenes on our planet – a canyon where water occasionally falls freely, creating a show for all the senses! Turquoise, blue and dark blue color shades, framed by wild greenery and sharp rocks, represent a special experience that is difficult to describe in words. One of the most romantic points of the canyon is picturesque Kudin bridge, through which you can cross to the other side of the river and climb to the edge of the canyon. According to legend, this bridge was born out of love - the young man, after whom the bridge is named, built it out of a tea tree so that he could reach his beloved on the other side. It is also located near the Krupa spring a monastery that is more than 700 years old. In it you will find beautiful frescoes, as well as icons and other precious objects.
