LEGO has introduced a new playset of the International Space Station, which really impresses. The iconic toymaker consulted with government agency NASA to create the new toy, resulting in an 864-piece set that includes a model orbital platform and a miniature space vehicle.
Measuring 20cm high, 31cm long and 49cm wide, the realistic playset features a mounted Canadarm2 robotic arm, two rotary switches and eight adjustable solar panels. With this, they want to show the complex construction of a real space station orbiting above the Earth 16 times a day. Contains 864 pieces and includes a NASA space rocket with three miniature cargo spacecraft and two microfigures of astronauts. It is also attached illustrated instruction booklet on 148 pages, full interesting facts and information about the International Space Station and LEGO fan, Christoph Ruge, who created the original design for the set.
Ruge sent the original design of the International Space Station through the platform LEGO Ideas, which offers fans the chance to submit their ideas. Their concepts can thus come to life with the help of the main LEGO designers, and later they also share in the profits. So far, the platform has implemented quite a few ideas from its fans, such as a family Kremenčkovi, steamer Willie and even legendary Friends and their Central Perk.
New play set LEGO International Space Station will be available in stores and online at lego.com from February 1, 2020.
