1966 was a historic year for Ford and its motorsports program. After the bitter but useful experience gained from unsuccessful races in 1964 and 1965, the Shelby team came up with the famous model Ford GT40. A car that soon took precedence in endurance races on European soil.
Ford GT40 won a historic (and also controversial) victory over Ferrari in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and at the same time, he also won the 12 Hours of Sebring a few months earlier. But it all started at the 1966 24 Hours of Daytona, where Ford scored the first 24-hour endurance victory with the legendary Ken Miles. Those who have seen the movie Ford vs. Ferrari or Le Mans '66, you are familiar with this story.
As a tribute to these victories, the "modi oval" has been bringing collectors and fans a special version of the Ford GT Heritage Edition for years, or rather every now and then, and that's the case this time as well. This time a tribute to the legendary Ken Miles, which can be understood from certain details of the graphics of the then winning racing car.
As well as the obvious historic take on Miles' winning car - the latest Heritage Edition features several carbon fiber additions. They are also special with one-piece forged sets of 20-inch aluminum wheels Heritage Gold, which paired with red lacquered Brembo monobloc brake calipers look extremely sexy. Inside, there are more Alcantara details, both on the seats and on the dashboard.
Simultaneously with GT Heritage Edition - Ford presents a completely new graphics package - Studio Collection - for the Ford GT with the possibility of special color combinations. You can see the new color combinations at the bottom of the gallery above and they will be available in extremely limited quantities, with only 40 Ford GTs getting the pack package”Studio Collection” for the 2021 and 2022 model years. Ford did not disclose how many models will be available 2021 GT Heritage Edition, all we know is that deliveries for the 2021 model year will begin early in the year. Production of the Ford GT will end in 2022.
