French romance: Renault Talisman & Tomi Češek

The French do everything a little differently. They are a nation to be understood and known well. They have their own view of the world, which is very romantic in a special way. And so it is with their cars, which are known for their innovation and bold design. This is also why we invited Tomi Češek to join our company - a master chef and creator of excellent French sweets and bakery products, who spent part of his youth in France.

There he studied at the prestigious Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Pâtisserie, and then worked at Ducasso's restaurant La Bastide De Moustiers, which has been awarded, among other things, a Michelin star. Through culinary creation in his company Zebra Patisseries, he is in daily contact with French cuisine and thus also with French culture - that's why we thought that getting to know Tomi and Talisman would be a real "French romance".

Are the French really that romantic?
The French are proverbially romantic, but they are much more than that. They are a great nation with a lot of knowledge and a very proud nation for that matter. Romanticism can often be translated into a love for perfection. And they are like that in their cuisine too. There is no room for improvisation here. I believe that they have a similar attitude towards cars as towards their world-renowned cuisine. Here we can detect an extreme degree of romanticism and also visionaryness among the French. In many ways, it was French cars that romantically changed the world with various innovations.

What was your first impression of the Renault Talisman?
He impressed me a lot. It is a remarkable car and in the limousine version it strikes the right balance between business and sportiness. Its lines are just the right amount of sophistication, elegance and at the same time dynamic, so that it stands out in every respect. What I like best is the light signature of both the rear and the front of the new Renault Talisman. Here it is very unique in design. The visual exterior is perfectly complemented by the modern interior, which is also quite refined and has no unnecessary elements. Make a great first impression, and that always counts. Even in business.

What advantages should a car have in your eyes?
Since I spend a lot of time in my car, I definitely value comfort. But still, I put safety first. And here Renault vehicles are always among the leaders. Of course, appearance is important in my eyes and I pay a lot of attention to details. In the end, I always put everything on the scale, where I look for a good relationship between the price and what I get for my money. So, in my eyes, the Renault Talisman has a lot of such advantages that it could be my first choice.

Did anything particularly surprise you?
I was most surprised by the driving dynamics of the new Renault Talisman. The test car was equipped with the MULTI-SENSE® system in combination with 4CONTROL® technology and variable suspension. Simply put, it represents a special chassis system that enables, among other things, 4-wheel steering, which ensures incredible driving dynamics. The car goes like on rails when you drive it into a corner. The physical forces work completely differently than in conventional vehicles, as the rear wheels also turn in the direction of travel. Although I personally consider myself to be a calm driver, the way I drive has often provoked a mischievous smile. The feelings are simply great.

How do you see the automotive future?
Many things surprise me already today. For example, systems that prevent the vehicle from crashing, or the radar cruise control, which I was able to test in the new Renault Talisman. There are things I can't live without anymore. The development of cars is also amazing in the field of connectivity with smart devices. Here, Talisman surprised me with a large LCD screen, through which I got all the necessary information. It's quite futuristic and I really liked that inside the vehicle. At Renault, I also saw a great focus on the future, because with its electric vehicles and various concepts, such as the recently presented EZ-GO, it shows what the future of urban mobility will be like. I look forward to the future and have no reservations about self-driving cars.

Could you relate French cuisine in any way to the French automotive industry?
In our company, we tackled French cuisine by taking into account the most important basic principles. For example, we choose the best ingredients for our bakery products. Thus, the flour of our bread is a special French secret mixture, entrusted to us and released by a baker whose tradition goes back five generations. In a way, it's a mix of tradition, quality and a look to the future. The French are like that in their kitchen, and I somehow believe that they carry these qualities into the automotive industry as well. Just as I want to make the best French croissant with the best ingredients, I believe that Renault does everything to delight its customers.
