Last year, GoPro completely revamped its Hero line of action cameras with the 9th generation - the GoPro Hero 9. They added a front-facing display, 5K recording and longer battery life. This year's GoPro Hero 10 is an iterative update that builds on the foundation laid by its predecessor. Although the Hero 10, for around 500 euros, looks almost identical to the Hero 9, there is a change that sets the stage for much bigger things.
GoPro Hero 10 it's a little heavier than its predecessor, but you'll hardly notice it at first glance, as it looks completely identical to last year's product. A noticeable difference is the change in the color of the inscription, which this time is blue. It's still a rubberized case, with two physical buttons, a battery hole, a space for a slot microSD, and there is also a port for USB-C, or everything that this camera has been bringing for several generations. At GoPro they claim that removable lens covers are more scratch-resistant and water-repellent at the same time.
For the first time since 2006, GoPro boasts a novelty GP2 processor. And so it brings a much-needed speed update. GoPro is said to upload footage to your phone or cloud up to 30 percent faster.

The front screen now has a higher frame rate or refresh rate, despite having the exact same hardware as the Hero 9. In most modes, you'll see an image on this front screen with 30 frames per second. The updated speed will also be noticed at HDR photos and processing.
Of course, the speed is also noticeable when you stop video recording, where the Hero 10 can save the video faster, so you can return to live view and menus.
Hero 10 it can capture 19.6 megapixel stills from 5.3K 4:3 video. That's up from 12 megapixels in 4K 4:3 video on the Hero 9. In 16:9, the Hero 10 can deliver up to 15.8 megapixel stills from 5.3K video, with the Hero 9 achieving maximum 14.7 million pixels in 5K resolution. It is more than obvious progress.
Although it is the same sensor with resolution 23.6 million pixels, used in the Hero 9, GoPro claims that the GP2 processor gets more data from it to process.
Hero 10 can record 5.3K video at 60 frames per second, 4K at 120 frames per second and 2.7K at 240fps. That's a frame rate increase at every resolution compared to the Hero 9, and the 5.3K 60 setting is really great for dreamy shots of fast movements in so-called action shots.
GoPro also updates HyperSmooth 4.0, GoPro image stabilization software. There are three levels of stabilization. S HyperSmooth 4.0 there's also an extended tilt limit for its horizon leveling feature, which lets you get more into your image capture while maintaining a flat shot.
Hero 10 it also uses the same batteries as the Hero 9, although you'll see faster battery drain at the highest capture resolutions. You'll still need more than two batteries for a full day of high-definition recording.
The GoPro Hero 10 thus improves with little things more than the excellent basics, still by far the best action cameras on the market.
