Harley-Davidson Fat Bob: a breath of fresh air in the Harley-Davidson world

Harley-Davidson Fat Bob

Harley-Davidson is certainly one of the most traditional motorcycle manufacturers in the world. They are a company that stays true to the old school of making steel horses. But even with them, times are changing, and the new Harley-Davidson Fat Bob is definitely one of the harbingers of change in this American company.

Existing chassis, with name Dyna, has said goodbye forever, as from 2018 onwards it is being replaced by the so-called framework softail. Harley-Davidson Fat Bob will gain a lot from this change, as driving it will be more pleasant from now on. Fat Bob will have on the front wheel dual powerful drives, 28-degree handlebar tilt and adjustable rear suspension. There are two engines to choose from, both Milwaukee Eight V-twin with label 107 respectively 114. These numbers indicate the volume of the engine in cubic inches, which in cubic centimeters means 1746 respectively 1868. Fat Bob weighs 295 kilograms, which compared to its predecessor is just 15 kilograms less. Due to the chassis change, this one is now for 65 % harder, has 50 % less components and needs for 22 % less welding. The front tire has a width 130 mm, the last one 150 mm, and both are dressed around 16-inch wheel. These are also the largest and most aggressive tires that it mounts on its motorcycles Harley-Davidson.
