Architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron has submitted plans for the construction of a new stadium for the English football club Chelsea. The proposed and brand new 60,000-seat arena would be located on the site of the current football stadium in London's Hammersmith and Fulham district. The plan includes the demolition of the existing football stadium and other buildings and the construction of a new, larger facility. The new stadium is also expected to have a store with football club merchandise, a museum and a separate restaurant and cafe.
Herzog & de Meuron promises that the new stadium will capture the spirit and bring it together local heritage and modern forms, thus it will be able to respond appropriately to local urban areas.

The most visible novelty is the 264 series brick columns, who support steel ring above the pitch. The ring provides a consistent geometry and connects the columns to each other. We should also improve view/view of the spectators to the pitch and made access to the stadium easier.
If the plans are approved, then Chelsea Football Club will be forced to host matches elsewhere, potentially at the stadium, for three years Wembley.
