H&M Co-Exist Story - an animal-friendly collection approved by PETA

H&M, sustainable and with care for animals!

H&M is proud to present "Co-Exist Story", an animal-friendly fashion collection fully approved by the animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The collection, which includes women's, men's and children's clothing, highlights alternatives to animal-based fabrics and fabric processes. The 'Co-Exist Story' is the third installation at H&M in the Innovation Stories initiative, which launched in early 2021 and aims to showcase more sustainable innovations, materials and designs. The Co-Exist Story collection will be available worldwide on hm.com and in selected stores from November 4.

The womenswear and menswear collections are designed for the modern city dweller who finds himself between late night parties and early morning hikes. The collection combines innovative fabrics that replace materials obtained from animal sources and more sustainable materials with a fashion-oriented mindset. 90s party-inspired clothing and functional outerwear are all alongside pioneering innovations such as FLWRDWN™, an alternative to animal down made using wild flowers, and VEGEA™, a plant-based oil-based leather substitute.

Key pieces for women include an oversized cream coat in recycled polyester faux fur and a one-shoulder knit dress with a dramatic fringe hem in an ECONYL® blend. For men, an oversized anorak in recycled nylon with a graphite print demonstrates streetwear aesthetics. Accessories include heavy-duty Yulex® natural rubber fishing boots for women, with comfortable FLWRDWN™ puffer shoes for men. The collection also includes vegan make-up – two lipsticks and an eyeliner set – which, for the first time for H&M, has been certified by The Vegan Society.

For kids, FLWRDWN ™ one-way recycled nylon anoraks and puffer jackets come in rich hues, while t-shirts and loungewear are enlivened with slogan patches that declare allegiance to the animal kingdom and support of PETA's work.

The Co-Exist Story collection embodies our ongoing commitment at H&M to exploring innovative alternatives to animal-based fabrics, while still offering our customers high-end fashion. H&M and PETA have enjoyed a positive dialogue throughout the project and we are proud to support such valuable work that PETA does every day."

Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative consultant at H&M.

“Much of our work at PETA is achieved through building positive relationships with companies like H&M as we strive to end the use of animal-derived materials. We are thrilled to be working with H&M on a collection featuring beautiful vegan designs that are kinder to the planet and the animals that live on it.”

PETA Director of Corporate Responsibility Laura Shields.
