Lighting of holiday lights 2021 in Slovenian cities and around the world

In many Slovenian cities, holiday lights will shine in the next few days, while in some world capitals, they hurried up and lit them already at the beginning of November. Whatever we want, the festive atmosphere is never superfluous!

To begin with, let's take a look at the hometowns that turn on the festive lights at the end of November and start the Advent period with a bunch of events.

Ljubljana

Holiday lights in Slovenian capitali will light up November 26, and at the same time the Christmas fair will come to life. The author of this year's festive decoration is Urban Modic, who titled it "Everything - the power of all". The nativity scene will traditionally be lit on the Gallus embankment, but if you want to enjoy a glass of mulled wine, you will need to show your PCT certificate.

Maribor

The festive lights will also come to life in Maribor Friday, November 26, due to measures without an accompanying program. This year, as part of Advent, there will be no shortage of lively events. The Fairy Town will come to life, and there will also be a carousel for the little ones on the main square next to the Christmas market.

Celje

In Celje, the festive lights are lit in Saturday, November 27, when the program Pravljično Celje officially starts. There will be no New Year's Eve in Celje this year, and concerts have also been canceled due to the measures, so the Christmas and New Year's market will be held in the city center.

Ptuj

The people of Ptuj will be able to admire the holiday lights from December 6 further. The program will be adapted to the current measures and conditions, just like every year, and this year they will also give gifts to children and the elderly.

Kranj

Friday December 3rd, on the birthday of France Prešeren, holiday lights will also be lit traditionally in Kranj, where the garden of Khiselstein Castle will also be decorated for the first time this year. A fairy-tale forest is being prepared for the younger ones, while the older ones will be able to admire the lights on the big Christmas and New Year tree. A wooden nativity scene will be put on display in the Kokre canyon.

Murska Sobota

In Murska Sobota, the lighting of the lights is announced for Sunday, December 5, and a city skating rink will also be built.

New town

Festive lighting will be on display in Novi Mesto from December 5, but there will be no traditional celebration due to the current covid situation. New townspeople will be able to skate on the main square as part of the Advent event.

Nova Gorica

The lights in Nova Gorica, on the renovated Delpinova street, are lit with December 3. This year, too, visitors are supposed to generate electricity to light up the Christmas trees by driving the bikes.

Dill

Holiday lights will be lit in Koper December 27th, and at the same time, the ice rink for the youngest in the Taverna will also open. A zoo with large 3D animal motifs will come to life in Hlavaty Park again this year.

Lighting of the lights 2021 in world capitals

Many European cities turned on the lights some time ago, neighboring Zagreb, and will do so in the next few days. V Paris the lights were turned on as early as November 21, only in front of the City Hall they will light up in early December. Also in London the lights have been on display since November 9, when 115,000 lights lit up the famous Covent Garden. If you feel like it, you can still watch the lights come on in the New York, this will be on Wednesday, December 1.

Zagreb

Advent in Zagreb begins on November 27, when the festive lights will be lit. In the Zagreb church, it will also be possible to admire the nativity scene this year, and they are also planning some concerts and performances for the youngest.

Vienna

In Vienna, they overtook the complete closure and turned on the holiday lights already on November 12. More than two million LED lights are on display, shining on as many as 30 shopping streets.

Venice

Our western neighbors are planning the lighting of the lights in Venice for November 27. As part of the Grand Opening, the lights on Piazza Ferretto will be switched on, as well as the lights on the large Christmas and New Year tree.
