Automotive innovations 2016 that will soon turn heads on the road

Automotive news 2016

The year 2016 brings a lot of innovations in all car classes. The work, family, business and sports categories will strengthen their ranks, and there is also an ecological Porsche and a courier for the 21st century.

These are the hot automotive innovations that will be hitting the roads in the near future:

Mercedes E All-Terrain

Mercedes-Benz with a new version of the class E All-Terrain it chases the undeniable crossover trend and fills a specific market segment somewhere between large station wagons and SUVs. The car will be to the taste of those businessmen who want to emphasize a dynamic attitude with their performance and need such a vehicle when performing official duties. Some of its exceptional, almost off-road features will make your purchase decision easier. It brings the standard four-wheel drive 4MATIC in combination with the Air Body air suspension, which allows the car to be hydraulically lifted and as many as three possible heights of chassis adjustment. Under the hood beats the E220d 4MATIC engine, which squeezes 194 horsepower (143 kW) from its guts and accelerates the station wagon from 0 to 100 km/h in a solid 8 seconds, and ends its display of power at 232 km/h.

Volvo V90 Cross Country

After the Swedish brand, now owned by China's Geely, revealed the station wagon version of the V90 in February, it has now revealed a version for the hills - Volvo V90 Cross Country. This one differs from the station wagon in that the body is more offset from the road and the protective elements. It is a combination of elegance and off-road capabilities. It has standard four-wheel drive (4 x 4) and measures 496 centimeters in length. It is not officially a successor to the XC70 model, which is also a Cross Country, only with the XC designation, which means the same thing. And yet, it is precisely this model with which it is to be compared. It is 15 centimeters longer than its predecessor, the wheelbase has also been extended by 13 centimeters, and the body is six centimeters further from the driving surface (which means 21 centimeters from the ground). It is built on the SPA modular platform, which it shares with the rest of the big Volvos.

Porsche Panamera 4 E-hybrid

The fourth version of the model Porsche Panamera 4 E-hybrid has become electric and economical. The plug-in hybrid Porsche Panamera 4 E-hybrid is powered by a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo gasoline engine capable of 330 hp (242 kW) and an electric motor with 136 hp (100 kW). The total system power is 462 hp (339 kW, 700 Nm of torque), which is transmitted to all four wheels by the 8-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox. The four-seater sports businessman can drive 50 kilometers at a speed of 140 km/h as quietly as a mouse on electricity (without emissions). It takes 4.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and accelerates to 278 km/h. The maximum efficiency of the car is otherwise achieved in the automatic driving program Hybrid Auto. Porsche promises a consumption of only 2.5 liters per 100 kilometers and a 50-kilometer electric range. It stands on an air suspension that balances comfort and sportiness.

Peugeot 5008

New ones Peugeot 5008 it crossed over into crossovers and came close to the Peugeot 3008 sport utility vehicle in terms of design, but still kept all the practicality. It is 11 cm longer than its predecessor, 16.5 cm shorter, while the height remains 1.64 m. The dashboard is digitally designed. It is decorated with a 12.3-inch i-cockpit digital screen, and an 8-inch touch screen rests on the center console. The steering wheel is characteristically small, and now there are seven standard seats instead of five. The last two weigh less than 11 kilograms. All three types have five levels of inclination and three anchor points for child seats, they move longitudinally, and massage is also available. If the Peugeot 5008 has five seats, the luggage space 'measures' 1,060 liters, if the second row falls in addition to the third, the volume increases to 1,124 liters. It is equipped with a 360-degree camera, the Advanced Grip Control system and is placed on the EMP2 platform.

Kia Rio

The slightly enlarged fourth generation of the popular hatchback has European-Asian-American roots in terms of design, and leans heavily on the Cee'd model, while the 'tiger nose' of the new Kia Rio brings to mind the Kia Sportage SUV. It has progressed both design-wise – Kia has cleaned up its lines, the rear overhang is shorter, the grille is wider but lower, and the C-pillar is thinner and more upright – as well as ergonomically. The driver will now have the key things closer to him, and they will also be arranged more expediently. The central part will be a new infotainment system with an HMI interface and a Full HD touch screen. It will be available with black/grey upholstery or black/grey artificial leather. The biggest engine innovation is the new 1.0 T-GDI three-cylinder engine, Kia's first downsized an engine first introduced in the Cee'd (2015) model, characterized by exceptional efficiency, low emissions, low weight and excellent handling in turns.

Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster

Mercedes-Benz presented the roofless version of the Mercedes-AMG GT, the 'identical twins' at the Paris Motor Show AMG GT Roadster and AMG GT C Roadster. Both use a 4-liter V8 biturbo engine, but the first squeezes out 476 hp (350 kW, maximum torque 630 Nm), and the more powerful derivative 557 hp or. 410 kW, which is only 20 kW less than the class champion, the GT AMG GT R. The GT C accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, while the slightly less powerful version needs 4 seconds. And while the latter is capable of speeds of up to 302 km/h, the GT C stops at 316 km/h. The AMG GT C Roadster borrowed quite a bit of sporting know-how from the AMG GT R model. Among other things, the steering of the rear pair of wheels (they change the angle and thus help when driving through turns) and the electronic differential lock on the rear axle, which is complemented by the AMG Ride Control sports suspension.

Shame on the Kodiaq

Shame on the Kodiaq is the first seven-seater Škoda, whose design is inspired by the Superb model, and it borrows its name from the bear from the Kodiak Islands (Alaska), with which it shares capabilities and an intelligent approach. The large SUV from Mladá Boleslav will have an octet of TSI and TDI engines at its disposal, namely two 2-liter diesel engines (110 and 140 kW), which will transmit power to the four wheels via 6- or 7-speed manual or automatic DSG transmission (biturbo diesel will also be available later), and the remaining three engines will be gasoline, namely 110-kilowatt TSI, 92-kilowatt 1.4 TSI (the only one with two-wheel drive) and 2.0 TSI with 132 kW. It will handle semi-autonomous driving in a crowd up to a speed of 65 km/h and automatic braking. It will look around with the help of a 360-degree camera. Volkswagen's Tow Assist system will assist him when steering with a trailer in reverse.
