1. Look at the cup

Check that the cup is clean and dry and free of visible damage or cracks. If necessary, wash and dry it before proceeding. Attention: only use a ceramic cup, never a porcelain one.

2. Place the cup on a flat surface

First, place the ceramic mug on a flat and stable surface, such as a kitchen counter or worktop. Make sure the cup is not in an inclined position to avoid possible damage during grinding.

3. Hold the knife at an angle

When you have the ceramic cup ready, hold the knife at an angle of about 20 degrees to the surface of the cup. This is the optimal sharpening angle for most kitchen knives, but may vary slightly depending on the type of knife and personal preference.

4. Move the knife blade slowly

Using even pressure and slow motions, run the blade of the knife across the unpolished surfaces of the ceramic cup. Make sure you cover the entire length of the blade evenly and that each part wears equally. Repeat this step several times to achieve the desired sharpness.

5. Check the sharpness of the blade

After you finish sharpening, check the sharpness of the knife blade by carefully checking that the blade is sharp enough. If necessary, repeat the sanding process until the desired result is achieved.
