January in the automotive industry is spent in the spirit of the International Auto Show in Detroit, where factories showed the world the first novelties of this year. Among the more interesting novelties is certainly Volkswagen's study of a sports coupe, which they called the New Compact Coupe, and as such it ranks between the Scirocco and CC models in terms of size. The essence of the newcomer is the hybrid drive, which combines a 110 kilowatt TSI gasoline engine and a 20 kilowatt electric motor; and the power of both is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, which many drivers consider to be the best automatic transmission at the moment. The Compact Coupe is both economical and green (average consumption: 4.2 liters per 100 km; CO emissions2: 98 g/km) as well as powerful: the top speed is 227 km/h, and the speed of 100 km/h is reached in a mere 8.6 seconds. When asked when the compact coupe will hit the roads, VW answers: "When the time is right for it."
