Hummer has always been special. It was loved by celebrities and those who wanted to stand out from the average. However, because it was completely ecologically unacceptable and because it was hit by the economic crisis in 2008, it failed ingloriously in 2010. But it's coming back... this time as an electric super SUV from the GMC Group.
Hummer gained fame by building a huge and slow diesel sports car SUV H1. It was originally a car intended for the military, but the stars went crazy after him. And started the Hummer cult. In ten years existence the brand introduced two more models, the H2 and H3, but despite this, the project was by no means profitable. The story of the Hummer brand came to an end in 2010.
But Hummer is coming back, although not as an individual brand but only as a model of the GM group or the GMC brand. The GMC Hummer EV looks very similar to its predecessors. Although the dimensions have not yet been published, it is clear from the photos that the new Hummer will be worthy of its predecessor in terms of dimensions as well. It will be a huge pick-up reminiscent of the H1 model, with 18-inch wheels and huge off-road tires with a diameter of 35 inches.
Although Hummer became electric car – ultra SUV, it is more powerful than its predecessor. Namely, his three electric motors together they develop approximately 1,000 horsepower and possess one of the greatest torques in the history of motoring. What we are slowly getting used to with electric vehicles. It can be filled with anything 350 kW per hour, which means it will charge quickly. The battery is said to be huge, allowing a range of up to 560 kilometers. GMC has come up with a crazy acceleration figure, and so it should accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds!
Being a compact SUV, this car's performance is particularly impressive. The body can be raised hydraulically by 15 centimeters to prepare the car for the most difficult terrain possible. You can rotate the front and rear wheels so that the car can move sideways.
There is enough space inside five people, the roof consists of three removable panels. The instruments are digital with a diameter of 12.3 inches, and the touchscreen is 13.4 inches.
The car will be on the market in USA came in a year, i.e. next fall. It will not be sold in Europe for now. In the US, its Edition 1 version will cost $112,595. Another Hummer version arrives a year later, called the EV3X for $99,995, the EV2X for $89,995 in spring 2023, and the base EV2 for $79,995 in spring 2024.
