It's rare for an electric car that doesn't wear the Tesla badge to generate so much interest and hope for the future. This is what Hyundai has done, which promises a revolution in popularity with the Ioniq 5 model.
Hyundai has been creating great electric cars with great ranges for some time now. But all that was really missing for real success was a new brand strategy that would comprehensively define the direction of development into the electric future. This is what Hyundai did right with the model Ioniq 5, which at the same time is becoming the backbone of the new brand of Ioniq vehicles. These will be electric cars only with their distinctive new design style. The new Ioniq 5 is such a comprehensive vehicle that was developed on a white sheet of paper. So on a completely new electric platform. It brings all the excellence of this company's architecture, such as the front luggage compartment and, of course, space for large batteries. That is why it is not surprising that they promise 400 kilometers of real range car. According to the WLTP standard, as much as 480 kilometers. Which is more than great information in the electrical world. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds is not surprising either, which of course applies to the version that will be driven by two electric motors.
This one will put 225 kilowatts on the road, which it is just over 300 horses. They will be available two batteries namely the one with 58 kWh and 72 kWh. These will be able to be charged extremely quickly with an 800-volt charging system - similar to the Porsche Taycan. This means only a few minutes for an additional 100 kilometers of range. But it's not all just technical data. The car is due to its electrical architecture extremely spacious, because the wheelbase is 3 meters, which, with a total length of 4.63 meters, gives the impression that it is really spacious inside. The space on the back bench is so surprising - it is also longitudinally movable and provides a massive 531 liters of luggage space in the back, which is accompanied by a smaller front trunk with as much as 54 liters. Of course, everything inside is digitized and looks to the future. The special feature is the projection of the argued reality on the windshield, and a lot of interesting details, such as classic sockets, with which you can make coffee or charge a laptop.
With all these features, it is an excellent competitor to the Volkswagen ID.3, Tesla 3 and others in the segment. Its success will, of course, be determined by its price, which, according to initial data, is competitive with the above. The Ioniq 5 will also hit Slovenian streets this year.
