The first weekend of April at Krvavac will be spent in the spirit of the best fun at the end of the ski season, which will be even more unforgettable than usual on the anniversary. Tradicionalna Luža - a unique event in which adrenaline-seeking skiers and surfers perform acrobatic tricks and spectacular jumps on a "puddle" in the middle of the ski resort - will take place this year for the tenth year in a row on the beach in Krávaška, and with a rich program, everyone who doesn't want to get really excited say goodbye to winter joys.
We spoke with Lina Doler and Anžet Kurnik from the association good, who revealed to us (almost) all the surprises related to this year A puddle.
Where did the idea for Luža come from and who is the sports and entertainment event intended for?
We drove across the natural puddle at the end of the season on Krvavec already 20 years ago. Then, one spring day in 2006, we had the idea to do something different, and that's how the Luža sports and entertainment competition was born. It is intended for all fans of snow and other adrenaline sports as well as a fun-seeking public, and over the years it has become an indispensable weekend for gathering friends, business partners and other Krvaška "wolves".
Luža has been on the scene for 10 years. Will this year's program be suitably jubilee colored?
Surely, a 10th anniversary only comes once. Preparations for the Jubilee Luža are also taking place in this spirit, as we want to once again serve with surpluses. The varied program will take place over the entire Easter weekend (April 4 and 5) and will be the most comprehensive of all Luža performances to date. We are thus looking forward to a unique event, and we are also expecting a record attendance.
Who can compete on Luža and what is your definition of a "good" trick?
In fact, anyone who has the courage to go across or into Luža, which is usually around 7 degrees Celsius. The age range is remarkable: for example, the youngest performer was nine years old, and the oldest was around 70 years old. This really confirms that Luža is an event for all generations. Quite often, the "seniors" throw down the gauntlet to their younger teammates with their acrobatics. A good trick is a well-executed and controlled trick. Luža is a sports and social event where safety and fun come first. We have many categories and criteria, and in addition to acrobatics, the judges also evaluate sports equipment, costumes, lucky falls and the innovation of the performance.
Can we expect anything new at this year's Luža?
Luža represents the end of the winter and at the same time the beginning of the summer season, so we decided to expand and upgrade the event with a bicycle race. On Sunday, we are preparing the descent of cyclists through the snow from the top of Krvavac to the upper cabin station and further to the valley. This will again be followed by a rich accompanying program. So there will be a lot going on in Krvavac, not only on Saturday, but over the whole weekend. But we cannot reveal more, because for the "ten" it is appropriate to leave some surprises for the event itself. Whoever comes with us will surely experience an unforgettable weekend!
What can we expect from Luža in the future?
The future is difficult to predict. We have learned and experienced a lot in ten years. With the right support from sponsors and a motivated team, we can only look forward to new challenges and the possibility of creating beautiful stories like Luža.
