The Jazz Festival Ljubljana 2019 is celebrating a high jubilee! The 60th edition of the festival will be the meeting point of the glorious past and the bright future. The organizers want to build on the foundations of this long tradition and rich past by presenting the current situation both on the global and Slovenian music scene.
What can we save on Jazz Festival Ljubljana 2019? This year, he returns to Ljubljana in the company of 14 exceptional ensembles John Zorn with the project Bagatelles marathon, and to mark the festival's jubilee, he will present the audience with a free, exclusive recital - The Hermetic Organ. On this occasion, he will be a French actor and director Mathieu Amalric presented his films John Zorn 2010-2019.
This year's festival once again reflects not only its own aesthetics, but also the current Slovenian scene. A particularly important part of the program consists of Slovenian musicians of different generations, with different styles and approaches. As they have contributed to the growth and development of this community, they have included plenty in addition to established musicians young artists. They believe that they will soon become part of not only the Slovenian, but also the wider music community. It will take place this year a record number of Slovenian musicians, who will present their new bands and new compositions.
The festival will conclude with a band Snarky Puppy and a pre-concert by the Slovenian band Ecliptic in Križanke, the second home of the Ljubljana Jazz Festival.
