After Jeep offered the new Cherokee to Americans last year, it will soon be the turn of buyers on the old continent. The new model will be available to European and thus also Slovenian customers from autumn. In September, they will be able to choose between two diesel engines and transmissions, 2WD and four-wheel drive versions and plenty of advanced equipment.
Cherokee, unlike the larger "grand", is placed on a specially adapted platform of the Alfa Romeo brand, which the Americans had previously used for the Dodge Dart sedan model. The American version and the one intended for customers on the old continent do not differ in terms of design, but the range of engines differs.
Only on the other side of the Atlantic are gasoline units, and in European markets these will only be available by order, and they will represent the basis two versions Fiat's 2.0 liter diesel engine, which will develop 103 and 125 kW respectively. The basic diesel will have a six-speed manual transmission, while the rest will take over the gear shift nine-speed automatic.

The range will include both 4×2 and 4×4 four-wheel drive versions, with the latter offering three versions of four-wheel drive operation: plug-in and electronically controlled active drive I and II and permanent active drive lock. In addition, many settings of the select terrain system. On the exterior, there will be many options for personalization, which have been taken care of by the company Mopar.
In terms of equipment, versions (namely) related to those of the grand cherokee model are expected, which means that the basis will be represented by: Laredo, and then there will be various other limited and overland equipment versions.
At the end of last year, the Cherokee also successfully passed the EuroNCAP crash test, where it received a five-star rating, which was also achieved by installing most of the advanced technology and assistance systems known today, such as: forward collision warning, parking assistance, radar cruise control, lane departure warning and a system for vehicles in the blind spot. Prices for the Slovenian market remain unknown.
