The Kia EV6 GT has climbed to the top of the electric vehicle world by winning Road & Track's 2024 Performance EV of the Year. As the latest heir to the throne of automotive innovation, the EV6 GT combines design, technology and performance in a way that sets new standards in its class.
It is in October 2023 Kia EV6 GT received a prestigious award “Road & Track's 2024 Performance EV of the Year” for electric vehicles whose price does not exceed $100,000. The prize was awarded by a team of experts who, after demanding tests on the road, concluded that it was The EV6 GT outperformed all competitors with excellence in performance, endurance, comfort and sporty emotionality.
Executive Director Kia America, Steven Center, expressed his excitement at the recognition, which confirms Kia's goal to transform electric vehicles from "quiet boxes on wheels" into cars that can offer the same thrills as the most fun gasoline cars.
EV6 GT is built on the award-winning E-GMP modular electric vehicle platform and pushes the boundaries of electric performance with a dual-motor e-AWD powertrain and a powerful 77.4 kWh battery. Combined with a front (160 kW) and rear (270 kW) engine, it produces a total power of 576 hp (426 kW) and 740 Nm of torque. Special upgrades to the EV6 GT include a sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers, larger ventilated brake discs front (15 inches) and rear (14.2 inches) with monobloc brake calipers, Goodyear Eagle F1 tires mounted on 21-inch alloy wheels, and "Drift Mode", which allows more oversteer.
In a test by the motoring magazine Motor Trend, the EV6 GT proved with its 576 hp that it can easily compete with and even surpass some of its main rivals, such as the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, as it achieves a speed of 0 to 100 km/h only 3.2 seconds. In addition to its impressive power, the EV6 GT offers a long list of driving modes that adjust everything from throttle response, steering feel, damper stiffness, e-differential programming, stability control settings, and power distribution between the front and rear engines. The vehicle is also impressive as a quiet and comfortable vehicle for everyday use, although its range on a single charge is not that great, at around 330 km.
