The Klein Vision AirCar is a flying car that recently experienced its long-distance christening flight. The flight lasted 35 minutes, between the international airport in Nitra and the international airport in Bratislava.
Klein Vision AirCar is the Slovak ″amphibian″, into which they have merged the plane and a car. It experienced its christening flight a few months ago, but now it was time for the next step in the ambitious plan that takes the AirCar towards series production. When the AirCar lands, it takes less than 3 minutes, to automatically fold its wings and transform into a car.
The AirCar prototype is equipped with an engine BMW, which has available 160 horsepower. It uses a propeller for propulsion and is equipped with a ballistic parachute for greater safety. The AirCar has more than 40 hours of flight time behind it, during which it was subjected to demanding tests that include turns at an angle 45° and other elements of flight. AirCar prototype 1 flew at altitude 2,500 meters and reached speed 190 km/h.
AirCar prototype 2 will have an engine installed with 300 horsepower and was officially licensed for use on the road and in the air. The expected speed of prototype 2 is 300 km/h, and its reach to 1,000 kilometers.
