The Lumi Music Keyboard is designed for musical beginners who want to learn to play the piano in an easy and fun way. The keyboard connects wirelessly to the app, where you can find an extensive collection of virtual music lessons. The keys on the keyboard light up in different colors depending on the note played and guide you to play the selected music correctly.
Lumi appeared as a project on Kickstarter already in 2019. After the company Roli reached the goal of the collected funds on the first day, they started production for their Kickstarter backers. Unfortunately, the pandemic came and affected further production. However, the company did not give up and in the meantime improved the manufacturing quality and released a new version of the keyboard, which it costs 299 euros in pre-order, and the optional subscription to the application is 79 euros per year.
Photo: RoliLumi keyboard it has small magnetic connectors on the side that allow you to pair two keyboards side by side. When you combine two keyboards, you double the range of octaves. The lighting effects in the keys are inspired by something called a Fresnel lens - the kind used in lighthouses. Colors are visible even in well-lit areas, but in the dark it feels like you're at a Pink Floyd laser show. Each note in the octave is a different color.

In the application, you select the song you want to play. The musical notation on the screen and the flashing keys work synchronously to the rhythm of the selected song and thus direct you to which key on the keyboard you need to press. If you press the key in time, you are already on your way to becoming a true virtuoso. Otherwise, if you press multiple keys incorrectly, gameplay will be interrupted and all keys will light up red. That means you have a lot of practice ahead of you.
