Mad Shelia: The Chinese made a perfect copy of Mad Max

Movie Mad Shelia (2016)

The Chinese are known for copying and mass counterfeiting. In China, we find counterfeits of well-known brands in the field of mobile technology, computer equipment, clothing, footwear, cars, fake shops and even European villages (Hallstatt), and now we can add a Hollywood movie to the list. Since Mad Max: Fury Road was not released in China due to quota rules, the Chinese filmmakers made their own version, which is a complete copy of Mad Max: Fury Road, with the difference that in China Mad Max, which is titled Mad Shelia, Max is played by a female Xi Liya. Shelia is a general Chinese term for a woman. Hollywood will be furious to see this…

The Chinese they like to fake. Shameless they copy anything they can get their hands on. The final proof is the film Mad Shelia. This is a low-budget version of a post-apocalyptic movie Mad Max: Fury Road (Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron) from 2015, but due to restrictive quotas, which apply to movies western productions in China, it was not broadcast. So they recorded their own version.

Just like the original Chinese version has plenty of action scenes, special effects and car chases with desert vehicles, with the difference that the title character is played by a woman. It probably can't expect an Oscar for a foreign language film like Mad Max: Fury Road (it won six golden statuettes), before Hollywood lawsuit.

The similarity is not accidental.

If you want to watch it, you can do so here (it came out on the Web), and if you like it, let us please you with the news that they have already recorded two sequels, namely Mad Shelia: Virgin Road and Mad Shelia: Vengeance Road, both of which are due out next year.

That it is a complete theft of an idea is evidenced not only by the trailer, but also the official poster for the film. We follow in the fake the renegade Xi Liya, a bounty hunter wandering the desert, disguised as a man. When he runs into the group virgins and realizes that these are about to be sold lords of war, takes matters into his own hands. Otherwise, this is not the first time that the Chinese have stolen an idea from Hollywood. They already did the same with Pixar's animated film Cars, when they 'made' the film The Autobots.
