BEER IN THE KRASTOn the edge of the Karst, Brkini and Čičarija, in Kozina, you will find the Mahnič brewery. The home brewery produces unfiltered and unpasteurized light and dark barley beer according to the recipe of the German company HBH. Beer lovers at Mahnič are served typical beer dishes, such as beer sausages, goulash, mixed plates (the Mahnič plate and beer plate are extremely popular) and veal or pork shank with a side dish, and regular menus are also available. The specialty of the restaurant is beer soup and beer goulash, prepared with homemade beer. Those with a sweet tooth will always be able to enjoy themselves, and in the summer months, the ice cream roulade with warm forest fruits is certainly the most enjoyable. A visit to the brewery is also suitable for larger groups, who can indulge in the intoxicating flavors in the pub area. At weekends, Mahnič requires advance reservations, but it is not possible to reserve tables in the garden. A few minutes' drive from Kozina, there are numerous natural attractions, such as the Škocjan Caves, Dimnice, Vilenica Cave, and twenty minutes away is Lipica. A visit to the Mahnič brewery with a tasting of homemade beer can be the end of a short but educational trip.
