What do we get when we combine Brad Pitt, Formula 1, Mercedes-AMG and 52 exclusive supercars? Probably the most beautiful marketing stunt of the decade - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition. And a car that will shine on the road - and on the screen.

If Michael Bay directed a car, this would be it. If Tarantino wrote it, it would be even more brutal. But now the director's chair has been taken by Joseph Kosinski, a master of adrenaline, who has already Top Gun: Maverick has proven that he can extract emotion from metal. Now he puts Brad Pitt at the center – not as a Hollywood beauty, but as an aging racer who gets behind the wheel for the last time and shakes the world Formula 1.

And Mercedes-AMG said: “We’ll give you a car.” Not just one, but a whole fleet – from the SL to the G-Class, all the way to the new GT 63 APXGP Edition. But be warned: there will only be 52 of them. Fifty-five is too many. Fifty is not enough. Exactly 52. Because that number probably has some deep symbolic meaning in the movie. Or maybe not. Sometimes it’s just cool.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition: Fiction made of carbon

This AMG GT is anything but a classic gran turismo. It's a blend of brute force technology from the world of Formula 1 and extravagant aesthetics that beg for a red carpet. At the heart of this special is the familiar 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with 430 kW (585 hp) and torque that would make even some trucks jealous. Acceleration? 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. (0–62 mph, if you're in London.) Top speed? We don't know for sure, but by AMG standards it's definitely somewhere around 315 km/h (196 mph).

And yes, you still have room for two in the front and (theoretically) two in the back. If they don't mind the carbon leather, ambient lighting and 15 speakers of the 1,170W Burmester 3D soundstage. Those who can afford it usually have their own concert hall.

Color: black. Details: gold. Accents: crazy.

APXGP is a fictional team from the movie, but this car is real. And as far as aesthetics go – this is pure gold. Gold details on the grille, diffuser, sills, even the fuel cap. The wheels? 21-inch, forged masterpieces in a Race Gold finish. The interior is carbon-fiber elegance with gold-plated stitching. If there’s an automotive equivalent of an Oscar tuxedo, this is it.

And because it's an AMG, the equipment is complete. Active aerodynamics. AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL. Liftable front section for lying cops. Head-up display. 360° camera. AMG TRACK PACE. And a custom-made garage dust cover. It's like your car is wearing an Armani coat.

A movie set? No. Movie character.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition is not just a car in the movie. It's a character. It has character. It stars alongside Damson Idris, the star of the series Snowfall, Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Javier Bardem (who always plays villains) and Sarah Niles (from Ted Lasso). And yes, Lewis Hamilton was involved in the production too. Because if anyone knows what Formula 1 should look and sound like, it's him.

The film will premiere in late June 2025, just in time for the summer heat. And if the film is as good as this car looks, then we're in for a spectacle. And Mercedes is already monetizing it with one of the most coveted automotive gems of the decade.

Conclusion: How much does hype cost?

There's no official price yet, but knowing AMGs, we can guess. The regular GT 63 starts at around $180,000 (about €167,000), but this one? With its limited edition, hand-painted finish, gold design, and content that will be labeled "Featured in 2025 cult classic" in 30 years, we can expect a price tag close to $300,000 (about €278,000), if not more.

But this isn't a car for everyone. This is a car for those who have already looked Le Mans '66, Rush and Senna, and after watching it, you said to yourself: “I would do that. But in real life.” And now you can.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition is a tribute to cinematic magic, speed and aesthetics. It's not the most rational purchase, but it's probably the most emotional. And sometimes that's enough. Brad Pitt already knows.
