Mercedes-Benz A-class finally got its "furious" version with the A45 S designation. And it is immediately clear that it is the absolute champion and at the same time the king in the welterweight category of sports cars - or rather the "family hothatch" category - a family hatchback. Congratulations - Mercedes-Benz!
With more power than the five-cylinder models of the competition Audi RS3, it is Mercedes A45 S AMG definitely leapt to the top of the class with a version that transfers to the asphalt a full 421 hp (310 kW). But it should be emphasized that it is all-wheel drive, which is otherwise based on the primary platform for front-wheel drive. But it's great here Mercedes' 4Matic+, which provides real pleasure and drifting through corners like the old days.
The base numbers of the all-new engine are impressive, as the engine is the first four-cylinder to break the barrier above 400 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. That power talks to an excellent 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The latter in the harmonious cooperation and dance of the components under the engine provide for almost insane acceleration data from 0 to 100 km/h. For the latter, a model with a label 45 S spend only 4.0 seconds. The joy ends with the electronic one limited 270 km/h.
The advanced electronics in the car, which manage the powertrain and four-wheel drive, somehow take care of the joy. This enables a way "drift mode" and thus wild antics - despite the four-wheel drive. We can only applaud this. They haven't forgotten about those we love a game of tires and asphalt. But we don't mind the artificial intelligence that makes the fun safer!
There is almost no need to waste words on the design. Racing elements, not too much they shout a warning, that you have something special in front of you - but still, the A45 S can be described as restrained and even decently elegant to a certain extent. Until the moment we touch the red button. Only the modern can do it in this way - Mercedes-Benz. Congratulations!
